I have lived locally, settling in Chalgrove, since 2007 after moving around the country, first with studies and then later with work. I have a Ph.D in chemistry and work in R&D for a large UK speciality chemical company. I have been a community governor since 2009, and sit on the curriculum and staff dismissal committees. I have additional responsibility to liaise with the science department and am also the nominated equal opportunities governor. As a school child in the midlands I attended my local comprehensive school where I thrived despite the generally low expectations for the cohort. I believe that every child deserves the best education and preparation for life in the wider world. For this reason I was drawn to, and am proud to support, Icknield Community College as it continues to provide an excellent start for the young generation.

The governing body is led well and provides good support and challenge to school leaders, particularly in working with the headteacher on his many plans for the further rapid improvement of the school. (Ofsted 2015)
