Aims of the PE Faculty
Ensure all students are given the opportunity to acquire and develop skills, performing with increasing physical competence and confidence, in a range of activities and contexts, including indoor and outdoor sports.

Learning outcomes

  • At Key Stage 3 Students will develop their skills, enhance their techniques and learn tactical implications across a broad and balanced curriculum. This includes a wide range of both team sports and individual activities, all of which focus on the importance of health and fitness.
  • All Key Stage 4 students will continue with their lessons of core PE, with both years following a personalised pathway across a variety of activities. Pupils undertake activities that will build on their prior learning, tackling complex tasks within areas of the curriculum that are tailored to pupil’s interests and strengths. Many pupils also opt for GCSE PE which includes additional PE lessons that covers a wide range of topics, which leads to theory examinations, coursework and practical assessments.

Extra Curricular Opportunities
There are a wide variety of PE clubs and teams for students to get involved in. Clubs take place after school and at lunchtime with many fixtures and tournaments taking place throughout the school year against local schools. We also frequently run enrichment trips and experiences such as netball and football tours, trips to national sport competitions and visits to Loughborough University to experience studying sport at the highest level.
