Icknield Community College is a successful and thriving Humanities Specialist School linked closely to the local community. From its foundation in 1957, Icknield Community College has provided secondary education for students in Watlington and the surrounding villages, including areas in Buckinghamshire. The focus of the school has always been to provide an excellent education that meets the needs of every individual.
We are a mixed comprehensive school for students aged 11-16 and there are approximately 620 students. We are an inclusive school and we cater for all abilities. Our relatively small size ensures that every student is known to all staff and this helps us to personalise a student’s education.
Our vision, encapsulated by our motto of ‘Excellence for All’, is simple: to ensure that all students achieve their full potential in an outstanding school that is the first choice school for our community.
Our progress over recent years has been recognised by a very successful Ofsted inspection (March 2015) and a variety of national awards such as Artsmark (Silver), Healthy Schools and Sportsmark (Gold). In 2015, we had an extremely successful year in sport, with Year 7 students, both boys and girls coming first or second in most county events.
In 2015, Icknield Community College achieved its best set of exam results for every main Ofsted indicator, most of which were above (some significantly) national average. In both 2014 and 2015, we enjoyed some of the best English results across state schools in Oxfordshire and nationally.
